CHRISTMAS EVE

BIRTH:

This night we celebrate Jesus’ birth. This event marks the years After Christ (a.c)

In this date finishes the Time of Advent (1 Dec to 24 Dec). Christmas Eve (24 December) commemorates the night before Christmas Day.

FOOD:

All the family is together. On Christmas Eve you can eat: serrano ham, seafood, snails, meat, fish... And after that you can also have sweets, such a shortbread, marzipan and nougat.

At the end, all the family use to sing carols and play cards or others games.

SANTA CLAUS:

On Christmas Eve, in some houses Santa Claus comes. Some children put their slippers with the hope to receive some presents. Other children put milk so Santa Claus leaves the presents under the Christmas tree. Other children put socks so Santa Claus leaves the presents inside the socks.

People say that Santa Claus is helped by reindeers in a sleigh to deliver the presents to all the children and he comes from the North Pole where are placed his headquarters. Santa Claus is helped by elves. Everything has to be very well organized because in one night he has to deliver the presents to all the children of the world through the chimneys of their houses.
